Tribute

Reuben Joseph Abimiku, fondly called Presido, was not just my classmate β€” he was my Assistant Head Boy during our 2005–2006 year at GSS Gwarinpa, while I served as Head Boy. Beyond the titles, we were brothers in leadership, friends in the classroom, and teammates on the football fields of Kado Village, where we both grew up. Reuben was calm, thoughtful, and deeply respected by his peers. He led not with a loud voice, but with quiet integrity and unwavering loyalty. We shared many days running through Kado’s dusty fields, dreaming about the future, laughing, and growing together. His untimely passing in a motor accident on December 15, 2021, was a painful shock to all who knew him. He left behind a loving wife and a young son β€” a child who carries the light of his father’s legacy. Reuben’s memory lives on in our hearts, in the stories we tell, and in the way he made us feel seen, supported, and valued. Sleep well, Presido. You are missed beyond words.
